Reduce salt in your food

Too much salt is harmful because it makes blood vessels brittle that will cause heart attack and brain stroke. The recommended maximum salt per person per day is 6g. With this upper limit of salt, the chance of brain stroke is expected to become zero. Foods sold in the market are often too salty. Be aware also the food industry tends to add more salt than necessary to the food they sell, because they know the amount of sale goes up as the foods are a little on the salty side. Medial statistical research indicates that people who take less salt are healthier with less chances of serious diseases and live much longer.

Salty hams and sausages can be mended. In case of sausages, soak in ample water for at least 12 hours. For a block of hams, soak in water for a whole day.

 

 

One measure of the salt remaining in the food after soaking in water is as follows. If the amount of water in volume equals that of sausage or ham, the salt content becomes a half of the original amount after a very ling time of soaking. If the time of soaking is not long enough, the remaining salt is higher. If the amount of water is increase, the remaining salt is decreased. If the sausage or ham is extremely salty, the taste improves significantly when the amount of salt is decreased to a half. 

 

If you have been eating too much salt, eat foods rich in potassium such as bananas, avocado, beans, fruits and cooked vegetables to compensate the negative effects of high sodium. People with high potassium in the blood is known to have less chance of brain strokes and heart attack.

 

Taurin, antioxidants

Another important thing for good health and longevity is taurin.  Taurin is abundant in animal intestines. French people eat animal intestine, which is a partial answer for the French Paradox. Sea foods are also rich in taurin, particularly ouster and squid. Dashinomoto, which is a Japanese word meaning the powder for good taste, contains much taurin because Dashinomoto is dried whole sardine in the powder form. Among the fish meats, dark part near the belly contains much taurin. For example, dark parts of bonito, tuna, and mackerel meats are all rich in taurin.

 

Try to eat or drink antioxidant foods: spices, green tea, red wine, dark chocolate, blueberries, seeds of grapes, seeds of pomegranate, and skin of peanuts (do not remove skin of peanuts).

 

Isofrabon

Isofrabon has nothing to do with sake or sake-related substances, but whether you know it and actively get the benefit of it or not makes much difference in your health and longevity. Isoferabon is a polyphenol and antioxidant, but it has similarity to female hormone. It lowers high blood pressure and decreases cholesterol. Isofrabon also decreases the chance of cancer. It also increases sensitivity of insulin, which prevents diabetes. Isofrabon prevents osteoporosis.

 

Isofrabon is rich in soybeans. The soy products, tofu, soymilk, miso and snacks that include soy powder or soy paste, have abundant isofrabon. It is recommended to eat 70 g equivalent of soybeans in the form of various soy products.

 

Reduce the amount of dish soaps, or stop using it

By looking at how dishes are washed in your home, I can tell if you are eating healthy or not.  If your foods are healthy, most of the dishes can be washed with warm water only with no use of detergent. Otherwise if your dishes are greasy and need detergent frequently your foods are not healthy. That is, your body is probably full of cholesterol and your blood vessels may be nearly clogged with white cholesterol.  Eating such greasy foods once in a while is OK, but most of the dishes must be washable with warm water only to be good for you health and environment. 

 

Also, dish washing detergent is causing great environmental damages.
